Hi everyone!

Plugging right along, tweaking and adding to the campaign layout to keep the needle moving... These middle weeks are always slow, so how about we fill them with some extra eye-candy? 😎

We just posted a juicy spotlight on Didier Cassegrain with a bunch of his beautiful artwork on our website, and here's just a peek at that gallery post (which you can visit through the link below):

Cassegrain's art is a feast for the eyes

DIDIER CASSEGRAIN was born in France in 1966 and has grown into one of the most unique contemporary European graphic novel artists of our day. Didier met celebrated BD (bande dessinée - French for "comics") creators Fred Blanchard and Olivier Vatine when he worked at Disney Studios Montreuil for a year, after a brief stint at France Animation. Both of these influential peers suggested he pursue comics as a medium for storytelling, encouraging him to explore the creative opportunities it offered. Soon enough, Cassegrain first appeared as an illustrator on the series Tâo Bâng, written by Vatine and Daniel Pecker.

Tao Bang (Delcourt)

With that fun project earning fans, Didier continued to focus most of his energy on animation, however, providing character designs in the animation department on other such projects as DuckTales the Movie, Talespin, Corto Maltese: Secret Court of the Arcanes, and Seaside Hotel.

At that point, however, comics continued to beckon. He helped co-create the character of Carmen McCallum (Carmen+Travis, Code McCallum) with writer Fred Duval for Delcourt, and a number of other sci-fi and fantasy books that eventually led to his participation in the Stefan Wul project at Ankama spearheaded by Olivier Vatine. That success led to his participation in the Conan the Cimmerian series (Red Nails), and ultimately Black Water Lilies, which earned him his first Eisner Award nomination.

He is currently working on Kingdom of Bears, co-created by Vatine and written by Dobbs. (Keep your eyes peeled here for news on that project...)

Visit the full gallery post to see even more of his work... then tell everyone you know to back this campaign to get these beautiful books! 😊

A fantastic Day-1! THANK YOU!!!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to our DIDIER CASSEGRAIN DOUBLE FEATURE Kickstarter campaign! We are thrilled by your turnout so far -- funded in 30 minutes! And two stretch goals already unlocked! We just updated the webpage with a peek at the next two stretch goals... think we can hit $30k in the next 48 hours...? Spread the word and share the campaign with all of your friends and we just might!

The Bonus Stretch Goal just beyond that one will be a really nice 2" metal Challenge Coin featuring Zarkass on one side and Black Water Lilies on the other. We have produced these for nearly all of our campaigns so far (with only a couple where those stretch goal targets weren't reached), and they've become quite collectible. So it will certainly be worth doing some word-of-mouth marketing for us if you're up for it. 😉

We are really excited for these two books -- not that we aren't excited about ALL of our books, but these two, in particular, have been on our wishlist for a while now, and the prospect of introducing Didier's extraordinary work to a new audience in North America makes us giddy. We have loved his work since Travis and McCallum, and even tho those works haven't been made available in English (yet...?), his unique visual style made them a feast for the eyes. With each new project, his work became even more refined and exciting, from Tao Bang to Zarkass to The Cimmerian, finally making the critical spotlight with Black Water Lilies. We're really proud to showcase his works starting with these two titles, and hope it is just the beginning! 😊 (With your support, it will be!)
